the other in the South during the war. Enter the "Valley Archive"
and determine which of three areas to select based on the date of your
event or battle. Search the various categories of primary sources starting
with newspapers and then letters and diaries.

topics. You will have to get passwords through CampusNET from home.

- Library of Congress
American Memory Project-
- photographs from the Civil War can be searched by topics. This is only
a small part of an enormous trove of primary documents collected by the
Library of Congress.
- Battlefield web sites
- This website is connected to the National Park Service, which has created
national parks of certain battlefields. It will only help you if you have
an actual battle in one particular place, rather than someone's surrender
or the fall of an entire city.

site including cartoons from the elections of 1860 and 1864

Daily Life from Gettysburg
- This on-line exhibit uses artifacts from the Civil War to examine the
life of a soldier. It gives an authentic feel for what life was life between
battles.
